With the second lockdown in the UK looming on many of us are dreaming of a time when we can go on holiday again.
But maybe instead of dreaming, we should actually be booking our future dream holiday!
There is a slight concern that we don’t actually know when this whole coronavirus situation is going to end and if we book things now it may become a problem. The UK government is still advising against all but essential travel with no suggested date for when this won’t be the case.
Cheap Flights
What better reason to start planning your next dream holiday?
With airlines keen to fill their planes with holidaymakers, they are offering cheap flights all over the world for mid to late 2021 to hopefully claw back some revenue, and who can say no to cheap flights!?
While you may be uncertain about putting money down on flights when they could easily not go ahead, all the major airlines including Easyjet, British Airways and Ryanair have stated that they will refund or move flights should restrictions stop them from flying.
Similarly, if you book them for far enough in the future it is easy to move them at no extra cost if you do it early enough!
Take Your Mind Off Lockdown
What better way to take your mind of lockdown and being stuck in your house than to dream about all the places you will go when the world is back to normal, I know you’re doing it already!
Take out your globe and a map of the world and start mapping out your dream trip. If there is one thing that this lockdown has taught us is that life is too short not to travel and when we have the opportunity we have to take it.
Get Ahead of the Crowd
The vast majority of people are going to lay off planning or booking their next trip for fear of it being cancelled. If you start planning now you get first pick on flights, hotels and excursions. If you wait until the government says it’s ok then it might already be too late.
Be Extra Prepared
It will no doubt take you much longer to plan your trip now that you are thinking about all the eventualities. It would be a great idea to read the terms and conditions of the airlines and hotels to ensure your money is safe just in case we go into a third, fourth or fifth lockdown.
Mix it up!
The coronavirus may have given you a new outlook on travel. Are you still as keen to go to busy tourist hotspots full of people? I know I’m not. Take this extra time to explore alternative travel. Maybe it would be a good idea to take a road trip instead and visit the places outside of the city centre.
While it might seem a bit counterintuitive and make you feel even a bit guilty, planning a holiday during lockdown could be the best thing for your mental health.
