Treatment Options for Psoriasis

Scalp psoriasis is a skin condition on or near the scalp that causes red scaly patches. It can vary in severity and involve the face, back, and ears. Most medications are delivered directly to the skin. Numerous topical remedies are available, such as medicated shampoos, lotions, gels, ointments, and creams. There are several medications available over – the-counter, but prescription medication is recommended for more serious cases.

– Reduce the intake of alcohol, smoking and tension, because these all aggravate the disease.

TREATMENT OPTIONS FOR SCALP PSORIASIS

Many natural treatments will help to treat scalp psoriasis:

Baking Soda: Take a spoonful of baking soda and place it in a small glass of water, then use a washcloth to apply the solution to the area concerned.

Garlic: In a 1:1 ratio, blend the pureed garlic with the aloe vera gel, add the mixture and wait 15 minutes for rinsing.

Aloe: Creams with at least 0.5 per cent aloe vera can be effective in calming psoriasis of the scalp. Add cream as many as three times a day to the affected area.

Apple Cider Vinegar: Dilute apple cider vinegar in 1:1 ratio with water, and apply to scalp. It should not be used if it breaks or bleeds the skin. Be sure to rince afterwards.

Oatmeal Bath: Adding oatmeal and soaking your scalp in your bath will minimize itching and inflammation.

Coconut Or Avocado Oil: Massage the oil into the scalp, put a cap over it for 20 minutes, remove the cap and then wash the hair.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids: Taking as little as three grams a day to help prevent outbreaks.

Tea Tree Oil: A few drops can reduce itchiness and inflammation in the scalp.

Tumeric: Up to three grams of turmeric may help to decrease inflammation. There are some approaches you can try with over – the-counter drugs if natural remedies don’t work.

Removing The Scales: Removing the scales out of the scalp will help absorb the medication. Last wash hair with either a shampoo or soap containing salicylic acid, to avoid the scales. Kindly remove scales with a fine-tooth comb after conditioning. Then add thick creams to the scalp to help control the moisture.

Over-the-counter Medicine: After removing the scales, you can then be able to take medication. To be safe, any over – the-counter drugs should contain either salicylic acid, selenium, lactic acid, urea or zinc pyrithione. Next, cover the ears and use petroleum jelly to keep the drug from reaching the ear canal to administer the medicine.

Then add ointment directly to your scalp, simply part the hair and drip directly on the scalp for oils and gels. This is difficult to cure scalp psoriasis but it can be treated with the aid of a doctor and natural remedies.
